Patience and perseverance – the story of making this technical OOAK neckpiece – 1st in series

It’s been a bit quiet recently as I was busy working on this latest piece – I am so excited to announce the first of a series of one-of-a-kind gemstone necklaces! Have a look below at descriptions of this gorgeous piece and pictures of the making process.

I’ve spent years searching for the most exquisite beads and gems in perfect colour combinations – not to mention gathering the making skills – and I am delighted to see them turning into some stunning jewellery ready to go to their new owners.

This first necklace features a real find: a large free-form cabochon made up of bands of lilac Lepidolite and green Tourmaline. Yeah, so I had to look that one up too, but the colours and pattern are just so beautiful I had to have it. Turns out Lepidolite is a pink-lilac mica that is a host material for tourmaline. This particular piece has bands of both. Fine faceted garnet and green tourmaline beads are the perfect complement for this unusual gem.

The back of the large setting provides an excellent canvas for some creative piercing and I was keen to make a rather technical keyhole clasp using the pattern. I thoroughly enjoyed the making process and I’ve added some pictures of the work in progress, for those of you who are interested.
