Family heirloom inspires exquisite OOAK necklace – 3rd in series

This delicately coloured gemstone necklaces is the third of my One-Of-A-Kind series and it has me just as excited as the first two! Have a look below at descriptions of this gorgeous piece and pictures of the making process.

Inspiration for this necklace came from my Granny’s fine pearl and coral necklace,  which lives on my dresser and brings back fond memories of her. I was always partial to the soft colour of the coral beads in this necklace. Imagine my delight when I found these exquisite angel skin coral beads! I just knew these were going to be something special. It was a long time before I came across this stunning rose-cut Labradorite gem and when I saw it I knew it was the perfect contrast to the sweet coral in colour and style to make this an edgy contemporary necklace.

I love the elegant colour combination: it is easy to wear quite traditionally or you can make it very contemporary by showing off the edgy decorative clasp with its cheeky blue flash. Wear it twisted up for a classic structured look or unwind it to suit a more casual mood – so many options, so much fun!

Have a look at the reverse of the angular setting and puzzle clasp. I think this Art-Deco inspired pattern really works well with the geometric shape of the Labradorite. Did you see the spectacular blue flash in this one? The contemporary matte finish brings this design right up to date.

I hope this new necklace will soon become your own heritage piece accumulating special memories for generations.

I’ve added some pictures of the work in progress, for those of you who are interested.
