Jewellery Inspired by Human Interaction with Water

The Beginning – From Water to Jewellery

My earliest memories are shaped by water — the pull of the sea, the shimmer of light on a river, or the quiet patterns of ice and snow. These experiences left a mark, an awareness of how our environment shapes how we move and feel.

For me, jewellery has always been a way to capture that awareness. I wanted pieces that aren’t just visually inspired by the sea or natural forms, but that carry the memory and feeling of interaction with water. This approach defines my work and sets it apart: every piece is a reflection of how humans experience, navigate, and respond to fluidity, tension, and balance.

Translating Experience into Material

Working in silver, gold and gemstones, I explore ways to suggest movement and fluidity within fixed, structured materials. Polished surfaces can reflect light in a way that feels almost liquid. Rounded forms can evoke softness and rhythm, echoing the natural ebb and flow of waves or the drop of a single dewdrop.

The challenge is always the same: how to make solid materials convey an experience — a sense of the motion of water, of tension and release. Hand-making allows me to respond to these questions intuitively, adjusting weight, proportion, and finish so the jewellery becomes more than decoration — it becomes something the wearer can feel.

Jewellery in Motion – Concept Meets Wearability

A piece of jewellery exists fully only when it’s worn. Like water, it interacts with the body — moving, shifting, catching light, grounding, surprising. I aim to merge conceptual thinking with physical experience: the conceptual framework of human interaction with water isn’t separate from the piece, it’s embedded in how it moves and is perceived.

Over time, jewellery can become talismanic, a bold and grounding companion. By combining weight, form, and responsiveness, I hope each piece carries both a sense of presence and a trace of the water that inspired it.
